Greetings from Colorado
Greetings from Colorado. We continue to breathe fresh air, float in the magnificent trickling streams and raging rivers, and watch what seems to be non-stop coverage of the Aurora theater shooting trial – finally it’s over. Yeah, and there’s the recent mining spill but we’re not floating in that. Oh,and did I mention the 2nd hand marijuana smoke? Did all the Republicans move out of the state?
Our families continue to thrive. For Janice and I, it’s wonderful to have 3 of our 5 families within a 45 minute drive from home. And of course, it’s a treat when we can see the other 2 families, 1 each residing in Idaho (Rexburg), and Utah (South Jordan).
Janice is busy with genealogy and working in our local Broomfield seminary office and I continue to be a slacker, catching up on all the Rockford Files series – but, we have the coolest flower garden this year. The flowers surround our new shed containing a generator which is tied into our homes’ electrical panel. It’s been a fun project and now we’re prepared to at least power up the home if we need to. This falls in line with one of my current church assignments.
Unfortunately during the first test, the generator fried the grass under it but it was a “high” moment when we shut off the main and fired up the monster with all our fingers and toes crossed. We first made sure our home fire insurance was current.
Dad taught me how to be dangerous with electricity!
Come December, we will add a new grand-son/daughter? to our pack, making 17 grandchildren in total.
We enjoy all of them and every other year, the family meets at a designated location to renew eternal bonds and make sure the cousins get together. A few years ago our family adventure took us to Garden City, Utah, (Bear Lake) where
we rented a home that fit us all. We had a full schedule including boating, hiking, spelunking, Pickleville Theater, and of course eating, and more. It was super fun.
Last year the gathering was at Lava Hot Springs. More of the same – fun, family and food with a little target practice and warming up Dad’s WWII Colt 45 and a few other target tools.
We are in search of a new location for 2016 to repeat the “happening”. Any suggestions?
We hope all of you are doing well and we send our love,
Tom and Janice and Family
